Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Jerome Tarantino, the American film director, screenwriter, producer, and actor, was born on 27th March 1963, at Tennessee, U.S. He is the son of Connie Pender and Tony Tarantino, an actor and producer. He first attempted to write a script under the encouragement of Lawrence Bender, which was never published. In 1987, he co-wrote and directed his first film, which left uncompleted but later become the inspiration for the film True Romance. 

He worked as production assistants in a number of Hollywood movies. In 1992, he received great critical acclaim for his film Reservoir Dogs, which he wrote, directed, and acted in as Mr. Brown. His next film, Pulp Fiction (1994), and the following films including From Dusk till Dawn, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill movie franchise, and Inglorious Basterds were the films which brought a wave of change in the Hollywood film industry. 

Tarantino’s films are known for the nonlinear story lines, aestheticization of violence, references to popular culture, and features of neo-noir film. He has received several awards including two Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, and the Palme d’Or, and has got nomination for Emmy and Grammys.

He is of Italian and Irish ancestry. He is Christian by religion, ie, of Roman Catholic ancestry.  But Tarantino identifies himself as a non-religious man. At the same time, he has stated in an interview that his abilities are God given, and will use the talent as it is possible. 

However, it is notable that Tarantino is aware about most of the Biblical references and related facts and theories.

In contrary to the religious concepts of Tarantino, his political concepts are kind of vague. It seems like the American film director likes to express his political views through his movies, and not through his words. 

He has once talked in support with the former president of America, Barack Obama. Tarantino has been an avid fan of Obama, due to his initiatives including Obama Care, same sex marriage, and so on.

He was in a relationship with the American stand-up comedian Margaret Cho in the year 1994. In a similar period, he was dating Mira Sorvino, an American actress. They ended their relationship around the end of 1990. He was rumoured to be an a relationship with 

Tarantino met Israeli singer Daniella Pick, daughter of musician Svika Pick, during the promotion of Inglorious Basterds in 2009 at Israel. They got engaged on June 2017, and married on November 2018, in a Reform Jewish ceremony. The couple had their first child, Leo, on February 2020.

The director of once upon a time in Hollywood has a strange hobby of collecting and playing board games. He has a collection of Dawn of the Dead.

    • Tarantino worked as an usher at an adult movie theatre called the Pussycat Theatre, while he was in high school.

    • He has described Mel Gibson’s 2006 film Apocalypto as a masterpiece.
