Aubrey Plaza


Aubrey Christina Plaza, the American actress, comedian and producer, was born on 26th June 1984, at Wilmington, Delaware. She is the daughter of Bernadette, an attorney and David Plaza, a financial advisor. Her father is Puerto Rican and mother of European-American descent, which resulted in her being the only diverse kid in her high school. 

After graduation, she had a number of internships including improve and sketch comedy, and has also appeared in TV shows like Mayne Street, Terrible Decisions with Ben Schwartz, etc. From 2009 to 2015, she played April Ludgate in the American political satire sitcom Parks and Recreation. She received universal praise for her character in the show. 

Her first role in a major film was alongside Mark Duplass in 2012, in the comedy Safety Not Guaranteed, in which her role was found “compelling” by Gary Thompson of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Her other notable movie appearances include those in Mystery Team, Funny People, Life After Birth, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn, and Child’s Play. 


Aubrey Plaza Religion

Plaza is Christian by religion, and was raised as Catholic by a strict religious Irish family. However, reports say that she is no more a religious person. But she has expressed her likeness in celebrating religious holidays with family members such as Christmas. 

It is safe to assume that Plaza does not believe in her religion anymore, but loves to celebrate the religious occasion with her loved ones.

Plaza is an active supporter of the Democratic Party. She has taken part in Presidential election campaigns in support of Hilary Clinton and has also given donations. She once jokingly stated that she will be happy to coach Clinton in her upcoming presidential debate. 

She describes herself as bisexual and has raised voice for the rights of LGBT Community. 


Who is she dating?

She was in a relationship with actor John Gallagher Jr. while both of them were high school students. Plaza has admitted that she was dating Michael Cera, in 2016. Later in year 2011, she started dating writer and director Jeff Baena, and currently the couple is living together in Los Angeles, California, and often they gets the chance to work together. Plaza and Baena has worked together on projects including the 2017 indie film The Little Hours. 


Aubrey Plaza Hobbies

When asked about hobbies, the reply of Plaza was like, nothing. She considers acting as her only hobby and admits that she has no time for keeping any other hobbies. She admits that there are plans to consider developing different types of creative and innovative hobbies once she gets enough time to do so. 

It is safe to assume that Plaza is the kind of person who likes to ‘go with the flow’. 


Interesting Facts

    • She was named after the song “Aubrey” by the rock band Bread. 

    • Plaza suffered a mild stroke called a transient ischemic attack while on the set of Parks and Recreation, from which she never recovered completely. 

    • Even though she is proud to be called as a Puerto Rican, she fails to talk in Spanish.
