Thandie Newton

Thandie Newton is an English actress. She was born on 6th November, 1972 in Westminster, London, United Kingdom. She is the daughter of laboratory technician and artist Nick Newton and health professional Nyasha Newton. She is recognized for the roles she played such as the title character in Beloved and the character of Nyah Nordoff-Hall in Mission: Impossible 2. She starred in many other TV shows and movies such as The Pursuit of Happyness, The Chronicles of Riddick, Westworld, 2012, Half of a Yellow Sun, Line of Duty, and Good Deeds, to name only a few of them. She won a BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her character of Christine in Crash. She has also won many other awards such as Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Critics Choice Award, Golden Globe Award, Saturn Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and British Academy Televison Award for Best actress.

Interestingly, despite being an atheist, she showed gratitude towards God when she won her Primetime Emmy Award for “Westworld”. She has not been very open about her political views and kept it away from the limelight. She was once seen to talk about Donald Trump not showing support and empathy for African countries, criticising them, and the visit of first lady Melania Trump to Africa in her interview. She has also spoken about other issues and movements such as casual racism, freedom from religion, lack of education in many African regions, and sexual violence in her interviews. Moreover, she was selected as the Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2019 New Year Honours for film and charity services.

She is happily married to director OI Parker. They got married in they year 1998. Their marriage is going strong for 20 years now. They also have three children together. Prior to OI Parker, she reportedly was in a relationship with her co-star Brad Pitt when they both were shooting the film “Interview with a Vampire” in the year 1994.
