Jim Carrey

James Eugene Carrey, the Canadian-American actor, comedian, writer, producer, author, and artist was born on 17th January 1962, at Ontario, Canada. He is the son of Kathleen, a homemaker, and Percy Carrey, a musician and accountant. Carrey used to conduct small stage shows and amuse people from his childhood itself. 

Later, he was signed as the young comic to open comedian Rodney Dangerfield’s tour performances. He gained recognition after appearing in a recurring role in the sketch comedy series In Living Colour in 1990. His first leading roles in film include Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), The Mask (1994), Dumb and Dumber (1994), as well as the Riddler in Batman Forever (1995). 

He gained further notice in the 2000s, by his roles in How the Grinch Stole Christmas, Bruce Almighty, Yes Man, and A Christmas Carol (2009). He went on a different way by doing emotional roles in films Doing Time on Maple Drive, The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, for which he was nominated for the BAFTA Award and Golden Globe Award.

He is of French, Irish, Scottish, and Canadian ancestry. He was raised as a Roman Catholic, but he has been linked with a number of religions like Scientology, Christianity, and Transcendentalism. He once stated about religion that, “We are everything. We are nothing. We are atoms.”

            He also believes in the concept of “law of attraction”. It is safe to assume that Jim Carrey is not confident about his religious concepts.

Carrey is very expressive when talking about the political situations of current society. He strongly opposes President of the United States Donald Trump, his initiatives, and the Republican Party. He once called Trump a melanoma, and also said that the current administration is raping our system.

Who is he dating?

Carrey dated singer Linda Ronstadt in 1983, but they got separated after eight months. He married former actress and Comedy Store waitress Melissa Womer in 1987. The couple have a daughter Jane, who was a contestant on American Idol 2012. Carrey and Womer separated in 1995. 

He married Lauren Holly, his Dumb and Dumber co-star in 1996, but got divorced after a year. Later in 1990s and early 2000s, he had an affair with his Me, Myself and Irene co-star Renee Zellweger. They were engaged from 1999 to 2000. He met actress Jenny McCarthy in 2005. After a lot of public appearances together, they broke up in April 2010. 

Carrey dated make-up artist Cathriona White from 2012; White found dead on September 2015, which was found to be a suicide by drug overdose. In the Golden Globes Party 2019, Carrey appeared with his new girlfriend Ginger Gonzaga, but they got separated in the beginning of 2020.

Carrey loves making paintings and cartoons of political issues and political leaders. He also likes reading and writing, and has released some books too.

    • Carrey and his brother used to work eight-hour shifts in teenage at the tire factory where his father was employed. 

    • His first book was for children, named as How Roland Rolls, and later in 2020, he published his first novel Memoirs and Misinformation.
