Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan is an English actress. She was born on 28th May, 1985 in Westminster, London, United Kingdom. She is the daughter of Stephen Mulligan, a hotel manager, and Nano Booth, who is a university lecturer. She made her acting debut on stage in the year 2004 in the Kevin Elyot play Forty Winks at the Royal Court Theatre. She made her debut in films with a supporting character in Pride and Prejudice. She also played television roles such as in Bleak House. Her Broadway debut was in The Seagull in the year 2008, for which she was given an Ian Charleson Commendation Award. She starred in many other television shows and movies such as Doctor Who, Collateral, Never Let Me Go, Far from the Madding Crowd, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, to name only a few of them.

Mulligan has not always directly spoken about her religious beliefs but some strong sources claim she was raised in a Catholic household. Also, she studied in an all-girls Catholic school in her growing years. She is said to be not believing in religion and that could be one reason why she does not speak about her beliefs. The reason could also be she prefers to keep it away from the limelight. She is claimed to be spiritual rather than being religious and her Catholic schooling gave her the feeling that Catholicism is too severe a religion. Interestingly, Mulligan got married in an Evangelical Christian, religious family and her father-in-law is a vicar and founder of the Vineyards Church. Mulligan hails from the Irish, Welsh and English ancestry. 

Carey Mulligan Political Views 

Just like her religious beliefs, Mulligan also kept her political views away from the limelight. One of the issues she is really concerned about is the Alzheimer’s Disease. She is an ambassador for Alzheimer’s Society since 2012. She represents the society and assists in raising awareness as her grandmother is said to be suffered by this disease. Mulligan met David Cameron, the British Prime Minister to talk about political ways of increasing awareness of this disease. She has also been an ambassador for War Child since 2014.

Carey Mulligan is currently married to her long lost childhood pen pal Marcus Mumford. They got married on 21st April, 2012 and have two children together. They got a daughter in 2015 and a son in 2017. Prior to Mumford, she was in a relationship with Eddy Redmayne in 2011, Tom Sturridge in 2010, and Shia LaBeouf from 2009 to 2010.

She claimed to not have outdoor hobbies and rather likes to stay at home. She has a strong passion for acting. Apart from this, she is interested in practicing yoga and she also watches her favourite television show, “Desperate Housewives”.
