Drew Barrymore’s Divorce
Celebrity divorces have more spice than the weddings they do. Reason being bad news is the real news and catches more eyeballs. Gossip is sure to gain ground when a celebrity has three husbands and two consecutive divorces. Drew Barrymore has made this saga a truth. Let's have a look at her marital discords and re marriages.
Barrymore was only 19 when she Married her First husband, Welsh Bar owner Jeremy Thomas who was 31 at that time. The marriage happened on March 20th, 1994 on the roof a bar and she left the next day for a shoot. The couple after that talked on the phone everyday until less than two months later she walked off on him and filed for a divorce claiming he married her for her money and green card.
In 2001 Barrymore got married to her second husband Tom Green, who she met on the sets of their popular film Charlie’s Angels. In Green's book Hollywood Causes Cancer, he wrote "We lived together for a year before we were engaged, and we were engaged for a year before we got married”. Unfortunately after less than a year of being married, actor Tom Green filed for divorce citing irreconcilable difference. In a statement, Green said: "Drew is a wonderful woman. I love her very much. I wish our marriage could have worked out. I wish her much happiness.” Which only proves how amicable the process must have been for the couple.
In early 2011, Drew started dating art consultant Will Kopelman, who’s also the son of former Chanel CEO Arie Kopelman. The couple got engaged in January 2012 and got Married in June later that year. Barrymore and Kopelman are parents to two daughters Olive Barrymore Kopelman (born 2012) and Frankie Barrymore Kopelman (born 2014).
In April 2016, the couple released a statement confirming their separation after nearly four years of marriage and finally got divorced by August of the same year. Drew revealed that she felt like the "biggest failure" after announcing her divorce. "Like, when you get divorced, you break up with somebody and you're like, 'Yeah, that didn't work,' and you get divorced, [but] when you get divorced you're like, 'I'm the biggest failure. This is the biggest failure.' It's so shameful and hard to actually go through that, even privately.” The good thing was that this divorce was amicable as well and the ex-couple have been seen hanging out together a few times.
