David Tennant

David Tennant (birth name David John McDonald) is a celebrated Scottish actor. He was born on April 18, 1971. He grabbed his first acting role at an age of 16, when he acted in a Glasgow Health Board’s anti-smoking film. After completing his graduation from drama school, David continued to feature in several television series and stage productions, notably with Royal Shakespeare Company. His debut feature film was Jude (1996). Since his depiction of the Tenth doctor in famous BBC sci fi series Doctor Who, David became a household name. He is also known for his work in television series Broadchurch (2013- 15), Casanova (2005), Jessica Jones (2015) and 2005 movie Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, to name some. Apart from on screen acting, he has also worked as a voice-over artist. Tenant was honoured with a Critics Choice award for Best Shakespearean Performance for his portrayal of Hamlet for RSC.

David Tennant Religion

Tennant has a Northern Irish heritage. His father was a Presbyterian minister. He is quite a non-religious person who goes to the church only occasionally. He admits that religion does have a role in shaping his character and work ethic. But he’s rather unclear about the relationship between morality and religion, and once said, “There’s a morality… I think there’s a moral compass but whether that comes from religion or just from being a good person, and where one starts and the other begins…”

David Tennant Political Views

Tenant is a supporter of Labour party. He endorsed Golden Brown in the 2010 elections, and also lent his voice in a television broadcast for his campaign. He was particularly critical of conservative party leader David Cameron, whom he called a terrifying prospect.
He strongly feels about environmental issues, and was voted “Greenest Star on the Planet” in Playhouse Disney’s Playing for the Planet Awards.
He has also taken his stand on gay rights calling it a no-brainer.

Who is he dating?

Tennant is married to his co-star from Doctor Who, actress Georgia Moffett since 30 December, 2011. Moffett is the daughter of former Doctor Who (1963) performer Peter Davison, who played the role of fifth doctor. The couple has four children together, including Moffett’s son Tyler who has been adopted by Tennant.
