Edward Norton

Edward Norton is an American actor. Besides, he is also a filmmaker. He was born on 18th August, 1969 in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. He is the son of lawyer Edward Mower Norton and teacher Lydia Robinson. He is the grandson of American businessman and the founder of the Rouse company, James Rouse. Norton came out as a filmmaker in the 2000s. He set his production company named Class 5 Films in 2003 and produced and directed films like The Painted Veil, Down in the Valley, and Keeping the Faith. He also starred in movies such as The Incredible Hulk, American History X, The Illusionist, Kingdom of Heaven, Rounders, and Birdman, to name only a few of them. Moreover, he is a recipient of many nominations and awards such as three Academy Award nominations and a Golden Globe Award.

He does not talk much about his faiths and religious beliefs in public and keeps it away from the limelight. He was brought up Anglican and Episcopalian. He once claimed that he does not practice any religion but he feels like he is a Jewish as he attended many Jewish functions when he was young. Interestingly, his first directorial movie was “Keeping the Faith” which portrays friendship between a rabbi and a priest. He belongs to the English, a bit of German, Scots-Irish (Northern Irish), and Swiss German ancestry.

He donated a lot of money and encouraged other stars to do the same when the 2008 re-election campaign appeared to lose steam. Furthermore, he disliked George W. Bush and even requested to a crowd at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland to vote him out in 2004. Also, he is an environmental activist and social entrepreneur. He assisted in providing solar power to low-income families by combining with oil giant BP. He also serves as a trustee of Enterprise Community Partners which is a non-profit organisation advocating for affordable housing. He is the president of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust's American branch. He is also appointed as the UN Goodwill Ambassador for Biodiversity.

Norton is currently married to Canadian film producer, Shauna Robertson. They got married in 2012 after dating for six years. They also got a son in 2013. Prior to Shauna Robertson, he was in a relationship with Courtney Love from 1996 to 1998 and Salma Hayek from 1999 to 2003. He was also rumoured to be dating Drew Barrymore in 1996 and Cameron Diaz in 1999.
