Colin Firth

Colin is a worldwide acclaimed English actor known for his roles in movies such as The English Patient, The Bridget Jones Diary, Shakespeare in Love, Love Actually, A Single Man, Kingsman: The Secret Service etc. The turning point of his career was the role of Mr. Darcy in the 1995 television adaptation of Jane Austen's Bride and Prejudice. Firth received international attention through her character of King George VI in The King's Speech, that won him not just the Oscars but several other best actor awards. Colin is a recipient of Academy Awards, BAFTA, Golden Globe, and Screen Guild Awards for his outstanding acting charisma. He has also earned the Volpi Cup.

Colin was born in Greyshott, Hampshire. His mother was a comparative religion lecturer and father a history lecturer. His background clearly depicts that Firth is Christian by faith. He has a Scottish and Northern Irish ancestry too.

Colin Firth Political Views

Colin supported the Liberal Democrats in 2010 although he initially supported the Labour Party. Soon he dropped this affiliation to them too and is currently has no preferences. 
Colin is an ardent campaigner for the rights of indigenous people through the Survival International. He publicly condemned the action of Botswana Government for their eviction of Gana and Gwi people from the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. He is also a supporter of Refugee Council and campaigned to stop the deportation of 42 Congolese asylum-seekers as they risked being murdered in their home country. Other than that, he also actively raises his voice in the support of asylum seekers, refugees and for the environment. Given his interest in scholarly activities, Firth once commissioned and co-authored a scientific paper to study the brain orientation of different people with different political predispositions. 

Who is he/she dating?

In 1989 Colin had a relationship with actress Meg Tilly with whom he has a son post which they moved to Canada. He then divorced her to return to the UK and marry an Italian producer and director Livia Giugiolli. 

Colin Firth Hobbies

With a degree from the University of Winchester, he was made the Freeman of London in 2012. He has been associated with National Youth Theatre, London and the Drama Centre London.

Colin is actively involved in the Oxfam campaign "Make Trade Fair".
