Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman (birth name Uma Karuna Thurman), is a renowned American actress and model. She was born on April 29, 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts. She began her professional journey, at an age of 15, as a fashion model. She has worked in different genres of films including romantic comedies, dramas, action movies and science fiction. Her debut feature film was 1987 teen thriller Kids Daddy Goodnight. She has won many awards and recognition for her performances including the prestigious Golden Globe Awards (1995, 2003, 2004, 2005) and Primetime Emmy Awards (2012). Her notable credits include Jennifer 8 (1992), Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (1994), Pulp Fiction (1994), Batman & Robin (1997), Tape (2001), Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003), Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004) and Nymphomaniac (2013), among many others.

She began dating hotelier Andre Balazas between 2004 and 2007, with whom she reunited in 2015. During the period of 2007 to 2014, Thurman was involved in a relationship with financier Arpad Busson, with whom she also has a daughter christened Rosalind Arusha Arkadina Altalune Florence Thurman-Busson.

Uma loves being involved with activism. Some instances of her philanthropic and activist work include her participation in Marie Claire’s “End Gun Violence Now” campaign and her membership in the board of a charitable organization, Room to Grow, fighting against poverty. During 2011, she participated at Human Rights Campaign for promoting the civil rights of LGBT community. She also joined the “Rhino Rescue Project” in 2015.
