Daniel Day-Lewis



Daniel Day-Lewis is an Academy Award winning English actor who was born in Kensington, London on 29th April 1957. He is the son of Anglo-Irish poet Cecil Day-Lewis and English film and radio actress Jill Balcon. He is praised for winning Academy Awards for best actor for his extra ordinary performance in films: My Left Foot(1989), There Will Be Blood(2007), Lincoln (2012) and that posted him in the row of only three male actors in the history of Hollywood  who has won three Oscars. He is also nominated for best actors in movie In The Name Of The Father(1993) and Gangs of New York (2002). He has also won Golden Globe Award two times, Scree Actor Guild Awards three times and BAFTA Award four times for the best actor.

Daniel Day-Lewis Religion

Day Lewis's father was Anglo-Irish protestent and his mother was Jewish. It made Day Lewis Jewish and Posh by religion that lead him to be bullied in the early age but he didn't loose his faith and by continuous practice he soon mastered in the local accent and mixed with public of south east London. Day-Lewis never hides his identity to accept what he was and how he achieved. He holds Irish and British citizenship both.

Daniel Day-Lewis is quite shy in discussing his personal life. But as publicly known he had a relation with French film actress Isabelle Adjani for 6 years from 1989 to 1995 and they have a child named Gabriel Kane Day-Lewis who was born in 1995 but it couldn't save their relationship.But soon Day-Lewis again fall in love with filmmaker Rebecca MIller in 1996 and the couple is happy ever after. They have two lovely sons Ronan and Cashel. The couple also look after Day-Lewis step son Gabriel.

Daniel Day-Lewis Hobbies

Daniel Day-Lewis is quite passionate about his father's poetry. He kept his father's work with him and finally donated it to Oxford University in 2012. Even he didn't stop at this and he created a free web poetry archive that contains not only his father's work but also receives new beautiful creations of English poets.
